Application
The adhesive tape may be used for the bonding and sealing of overlaps, joints, and round or angular penetrations of diffusion-open or diffusion-tight roof-lining membranes in pitched roof and facade areas according to DIN 4108 part 7. It may also be used as repairing tape for small damage or rips in roof-lining membranes.
Gerband 386 External Cloth Tape is very resistant against humidity, diffusion-open, and UV-resistant over a period of 4 months even under direct solar radiation. Gerband 386 External Cloth Tape may therefore be used for cold-sided bonding.
Surfaces must be dry and free of release agents like grease, oil, tensides, dirt, and dust. We recommend preconditioning porous or sandy subsurfaces with PHS Primer. Gerband 386 External Cloth Tape must not be used for bonding under mechanical load. It must be bonded as tension-free as possible and pressed and rubbed adequately onto surfaces. The adhesion may be improved by applying higher pressure. Due to eventual plasticizer migration we recommend testing the product‘s suitability on plastics and rubber.
For safety reasons we generally recommend users to test the adhesion of the tape on self-chosen membranes before application.
