The PHS Downlight Hood – Fire Rated allows for safe and efficient use of recessed downlights. It’s F-cap allows for insulation to be fitted against the hood, as well as above it, enabling a continuous airtight and thermal envelope to be maintained, and increasing the heating efficiency of the building space while also reducing the risk of surface condensation.
Recessed downlights represent a potential fire hazard, caused by heat loss and surface condensation. They should be installed at a minimum distance from insulation to prevent cold bridges in the thermal envelope which can result in surface condensation as the warm, moist, internal air condenses on the cold, uninsulated surface. The downlight is also likely to cause air leakage.
